I was with the 95th FIS ar Andrews AFB in DC. We moved to Dover in 1963
and replaced the 98th FIS with their F-101's who had moved to Suffolk
Co. NY. I think the 98th was one of the last ADC squadrons to have the
Voodoo, but that's for others to confirm. Regarding ARC-55s in
high-altitude acft, base supply at Dover stocked the ARC-55 and, as I
stand corrected, our solo U-6A DeHaviland Beaver had the ARC-55, not the
T-33As. When we got the Beaver, it had A.R.C radios and we needed UHF,
of course. The ARC-55 is just a bit lighter that the ARC-27, as I
recall. Of course, the Beaver never flew above 6-8 grand, if that!!
