The California Historical Radio Society (CHRS) is offering the following
two receiver combos. All proceeds will go toward the preservation,
archiving and display of radio history, both equipment and literature.

R-27/ARC-5 with homebrew power supply and Q-multiplier. The R-27 is black
with good paint, complete (except for dyno and tuning knob), and in good
overall condition. No corrosion or re-cap. There has been minimal hacking
as the owner knew what he was doing and respected the unit. For example,
the rear socket is engaged by proper mini-bananas and likewise the dyno
pins are engaged with mini-banana sockets. The drawer has the obligatory IF
gain pot installed in the middle hole but no other holes drilled. The power
supply is nicely built on a separate alum chassis. It has a 250V
transformer for B+ and a 24V transformer for filament. B+ is regulated by
a VR-105. The supply has switches for AC On/Off, DC On/Off and BFO On/Off.
The Q-mult is built as a sidecar to the receiver. It features a 12AT6, a
selectivity pot, a BFO freq var cap, AVC On/Off switch and an audio gain
pot. The combo is untested and sold as-is. Price is $50 plus shipping
from CA.

BC-454-B with homebrew power supply and Q-multiplier. This is made very
similar to the R-27 setup. The BC-454 is silver, in good overall shape,
but missing it's tube cover, dyno, tuning knob and having a replacement
bottom cover. No corrosion or re-cap. Same use of mini-bananas, hence no
solder desecration of plugs and jacks. The front drawer is black wrinkle
and has the single IF gain pot in the middle. The power supply is on a
separate chassis with AC, DC, and BFO On/Off switches. The B+ transformer
looks very similar to the R-27 but is unmarked. Also uses a VR-105 and
24VAC. The Q-mult is attached as a sidecar to the receiver. It uses a
12AT7 twin triode and I do not see a selectivity control. There is a pot
for audio gain and a var cap for BFO adjustment as with the R-27. The
combo is untested and sold as-is. Price is $45 plus shipping from CA.

I have photos of the inside and out available for serious buyers.

Please give these a good home and help out CHRS in the process.
