Well, there are two problems with the receivers: 1) they are a bit broad. and 
2) I have NEVER liked that OE tuning knob. It has completely unacceptable 
back-lash and although I have several of those and others like them I never 
use them.

The broadness I have always been able to deal with, at least on CW, with the 
wet filter between my ears, but that back-lash always pretty much killed me 
until I began to use my own adapters.

As far as a "Q" Multiplier is concerned, the ARRL Handbook had a 
single-transistor version a number of years ago. A friend recently built one for 
use in his RME-69 and was quite pleased with it.
