[ARC5] Dielectric tape

TimThat is also a good trick but i have only used teflon tape once in this fashion.

I had fairly consistent access to polyimide tape during my career and a couple years ago i had reason to buy a good assortment of rolls of polyimide tape of various widths for a project at work.  That tape resides in a box four steps from my desk so it comes to mind quickly.
Of course one of the attractions of polyimide tape beyond its excellent electrical parameters is that it seems to stick to almost everything and remain stuck at temperature extremes.

Good info above...I use teflon pipe-thread tape for HV ferrite power supply transformers, good dielectric strength, cheap, available, works well.

For what it is worth, Kapton is the Dupont trade name for polyimide.  I agree it is great stuff although a bit pricy

I work for a  High Power Power Supply manufacture( 750 to 100,00 Watts systems). We use 3M 1205 kapton, 2 mil thickness,1000 volts isolation per mil. works well under heat and cold. Works great on Baluns.
