[ARC5] "ARC-5" Market Value - It's Crazy

I have been watching ARC 5 tuning knobs on and off for the last four years and i if i had had a chance to buy at $15 dollars i would have jumped all over it.
I do agree $50 bucks per knob is high but if you need them to finish a project??????
I have been seriously collecting old WW2 and pre WW2 receivers for the last couple years and it seems to me prices are uniformly going up. I wonder if this is a transient phenomenon driven by older guys enjoying a second, more financially capable childhood- i fall in that category- which will die out with the enthusiasts, or if interest and therefor demand will pass on to the next generation.

It's even more of a mystery if you ever tried to use those "stock" receivers in a QSO!I'm going to have to cook up a tiny FET Q-multiplier to go inside the radio...

Next time someone asks me what an "ARC-5" piece
is worth, here's an example of what I mean when I tell
them the question is unanswerable, the market is insane,
it depends on which way the wind is blowing and
who has "mad money" when:
Three tuning knobs are worth $15 each:

But just six days before, four of them
were worth almost $50 each:

When someone says:
"It's worth whatever someone will pay at that moment,"
he's not trying to be a smarta**.
It's the only valid answer.
