[ARC5] Adventures in Battery Ops - filters - LEDs

Hi,

I have been buying the "Cree" brand LEDs - the "daylight" model - bulbs
from Home Depot. While everything is subject to change they have been RF
silent so far. I cannot testify regarding any other brand nor when the
makers will discover they can make them a half cent *cheaper* by
eliminating the filtering if it's needed. I can see the power supply in
some of the LED bulbs and it looks much simpler than those on CFLs. It
doesn't look like a switcher.

They consume less of the expensive energy and run cooler. They cost
quite a bit. I am buying two or three every month until I have trouble
or replace all the other bulbs in my home. ARC-5 and radio content
follows. I set the antique incandescent bulbs aside for use as dummy
loads on my transmitters. It's necessary to have some light near my
command receivers to read those dials. It's good to have efficient light
that is RF quiet bear our radios.
