[ARC5] spare command receiver sheet metal

Hi,

I have seven of the command receivers in various conditions. Most of
them are useable and the rest will be - except one (number 8) that is
way beyond the pale. A crushed junker. To make them whole again I do
need some sheet metal. Some of it will be easier for me to fabricate
than other pieces but if I can get my hands on original parts in
reasonable condition I'll go that route.

The small metal cover with 5 slide latches that cover the tubes and IF
cans - need 3. This one will be the easiest to fabricate if I can't get
them.

The bottom plate - need 1. This is only slightly harder than the small
top plate. Making and accurately locating all the posts to receive the
screws - time consuming.

The top housing - need 1. This one covers most of the top of the radio
and has the opening for changing tubes where the smaller cover goes. I
could make some kind of a facsimile of this but the folds and radii...
kind tough.

And antenna terminals. Those things get broken (or even replaced with
coax connectors). - need 4.

Anybody can help with any of these please contact me off list. These
bits can be black or bare and I'll deal with that if needed. If your
browser/mail client doesn't make my email address obvious it's:

I have begun evaluating the working radios more closely with antennas,
earphones, and cans connected. I'm using batteries to give me heater
current and B+ (90 volts). I have to pay close attention to the battery
piles. All but my BC-454 have the 24 volt heater strings. That one has
been rewired to 12 volts. I need to put it back the way it is supposed
to be or Murphy will get me. So far the radios I considered were working
radios (regardless of modification) actually do work pretty well. Some
caps need to be replaced (lower B+ helps with that) and they could
generally be prettier. I was playing wuth the BC-455 (40 meters) today
for a while. It took some extra time to warm up and after that it
drifted a little bit but this is one that needs the tube cover. I am
using these with some audio filters that help quite a bit but I turned
the filters off for 40 meter SSB and it did very well.

I got the BC-455 from John Forster, a member of this list. Has anybody
heard anything at all of John recently?
