I worked for Magnavox Electronic Systems Co. in the 1980s as a software
engineer for various EW projects. During that time I was a member of the
Association of Old Crows (AOC). Last year I was on the AOC website and
they mentioned the book set, so I went over to Amazon to see what was
available.

Volume 1 is available for around $40 or so. I put this on my Christmas
list and was delighted to find it under the tree on Christmas morning.

Volume 2 is available for around $60 and it covers 1946 to 1964.

Volume 3 is available but I see only one listing for $165. It covers 1964
to 2000.

Instruments of Darkness, as mentioned by John WA4WDL, covers 1939 to 1945,
and I’m not sure what the content difference is between this book and Vol 1
of the other book.

Other good books:

“Thud Ridge” by Col. Jack Broughton was also under the Christmas tree. I
read the sequel “Going Downtown” years ago and it is a superb book, so I’m
looking forward to “Thud Ridge” followed by re-reading “Going Downtown”
this summer.

“The Eleven Days of Christmas: America’s Last Vietnam Battle” by Marshall
L. Michel III. This is an in depth study of the 1972 “Christmas Bombing”
campaign. I was really surprised about how this was conducted and also
about LeMay’s / SACs approach of using the B-52 in a conventional bombing
role as opposed to SACs normal nuclear bombing role. Very good book.
