Mike is correct, of course. But... if you're going to modify and
re-wire an ARC-5 rack to accommodate an SCR-274-N transmitter, it
appears I have a spare 7-pin connector that will do it. Now, what I do
not know is if the connector will actually mount properly in the Navy
rack. I suspect there will be a difficulty owing to the diameter of the
original connector. All my TX stuff is 274-N so I can't readily measure
anything. Others, here, will certainly know.

I can tell from your sparse description, but it sounds like you are:
1. Trying to install a AN/ARC-5 transmitter in a SCR-274-N or ATA rack.
OR
2. Trying to install a SCR-274-N or ATA transmitter in an AN/ARC-5 rack.
STOP RIGHT THERE!!!
The circle of pin arrangement on the AN/ARC-5 transmitter and rack connectors
is significantly larger than that for the ATA and SCR-274-N. The wiring to
the pins are grossly different as well.
Different connectors are used throughout the AN/ARC-5 transmitter system,
because the ONLY TWO COMPONENTS in the AN/ARC-5 transmitter system that are
electrically interchaneable with equivalent components in the ATA or SCR-274-N
system are the DYNAMOTOR and the ANTENNA RELAY. This is pointed out in many
places, such as the article at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AN/ARC-5 .
