[ARC5] deathwatch for radio shack?

As far as I am concerned, Radio Shack hierarchy has always had a very
serious problem with marketing. They always seem to do exactly the wrong
thing. They appear to be incapable of marketing their way out of a paper
bag.

For instance, when someone in the RS organization managed to, over
strenuous opposition from "the powers that be", design and build the first
truly personal computer, the TRS-80 Model 1, someone decided that they
could possibly sell, oh, maybe 1000 units in a year.

When the thing debuted at some show somewhere (I've forgotten which)
they sold over 1000 units the first DAY and at one time were 6 months
behind in orders.

Furthermore, the hierarchy never did figure that one out...

I have been surprised that they lasted as long as they have.
