[ARC5] deathwatch for radio shack?

I have back issues of QST and CQ that have prolific ads from Radio Shack 
showing ARC-5 and '274N equipment, not to mention BC-221s, BC-375s, 
BC-348s, and a myraid of other radio equipment.  But, not unlike 
Lafayette, they drifted away from "radio" and components and went for 
the de jur electronic fad.  Lafayette's been gone for a long time and is 
but a memory for the few.  I still use the two, local R/S stores for an 
occasional diode, mini-box, or one of their few transformers.  All else 
is pretty much well over the going price... for anything.  At Christmas 
time, the stores look like Toys-R-Us.  I go to Mouser for, arguably, 90% 
of the electronic parts I currently need.  So.. I'll simply gaze, at 
times, at their printed ads of a long-gone yesterday.
