That's not true Ken.  A number of staff officers on Nagumo's flahship
wanted to go back after the second strike and destroy the drydocks and fuel
supplies. Nagumo did not wish to risk his carriers and decided not to do
so.  Had he decided to do so, the Pacific war might have turned out very
differently and very sooner.

Two excellent books on this topic are "Carrier Wars" by Edwin Hoyt and "At
Dawn we Slept" by Gordon Prange.
