It's been pointed out to me that due to skin effect in the coil, Q does not
rise linearly with frequency for a given coil, so there will not be more
than
three times rise in Q by going from 7-9.1 MHz to 28-30 MHz as I had
claimed. The rise will be somewhat less than 3 times.

Nevertheless, for those who are prepared to tolerate somewhat wider
bandwidth (worse selectivity) at 10m, the suggestion to add a small fixed
capacitor in series with each of the three tuning gangs may warrant some
investigation.
It's easy to do, easily reversible, and doesn't involve removal of capacitor
plates or removing turns off the coils.
