Folks, remember that these receivers were excellent in 
fulfilling the mission for which they were designed-
talking to other aircraft close by and ground stations
that were usually in line-of-site.  
"Broad as a barn door" was a *positive* for 
that mission at the time.
Don't try to work DXCC with one.  If you have 
any QRM within 10-15 KCs, 
you won't hear weaker AM signals.

That said, if you take the trouble to make the touchy
touchy feedback tweek between the antenna post
and the third tube back, you can cut the QRM and
pull the weak ones right out of the noise.
I made a video showing clear seperation between
AM QSOs on 3880 and 3890 KC, 
but I can't seem to find it right now.
