WAY back in the 1940s when I was a grade school kid my Elmer (WW2 vet
who ran the local radio repair shop and did general electrical
contracting in the town) gave me an SCR-274N transmitter with some
extra stuff in it. Said he got it from Army MARS and that he had
modified it to get rid of the "chirp" in it. I remember asking
something like "what's chirp?" and not understanding much of the
answer. Don't know whether or not his modification(s) worked either.
Anyway though, find it interesting that the problem is still around
and the discussion is still going on almost 70 years later.
