[ARC5] Question on antenna relay BC442.

As with most of these I have seen and 2 that are in my possession, Hams of yesteryear loved to strip these down to nothing but the meter, thermocouple and two antenna posts. 
Why they bothered to remove the receive post is a mystery to me. ( I am going to use a post from the spare marked "ant" to replace it.)
The other mod that I don't understand is the removal of the the current transformer T55, stock # 2Z9976 and making a direct connection through the thermocouple assembly.
There is no info on the turns ratio in the manual. Does anybody have a spare or know what the specs were on this transformer?
