Due to circumstances beyond our collective control, these have become rare
birds indeed. Several folks have offered suggestions as to how to handle
the problem, all of which are valid. As noted in an earlier massive
missive, I am in need of several dozen of these critters. The spline
adaptor itself is the hard part since the rest can be machined fairly
easily.* The solution I'm mostly likely to take is to cast them either in
resin or in pewter using one I have on hand as a master.** They won't be as
rugged as the originals but also won't be required to handle the stresses
for which the originals were designed. Casting is easy (It must be if I can
do it!) and last I was at a craft store they had the materials to do so in
assorted types of kits.
* If one has a Harding or similar, it's falling off a log easy. If one has
a micro-lathe like mine, it's a bit more tedious.
** They can be machined as well however one's sanity would be in jeopardy
after the 2nd or 3rd one. In my case, this is not a factor.
