I have been working on audio clippers for some time, and have finally arrived
at what I consider to be a very effective, but simple one.

It uses two SS diodes, series connected, back to back, with a biasing
method. For best effect, it should be installed in some high-impedance part of
the circuit.

Mine is built onto a piece of perf-board about 1" by 1". It needs audio in/out
and a small DC voltage applied to the clipping-level input, and ground. 4
wires.

However, I am not sure if it would work in your situation due to what Dave
Stinson mentioned.

It would depend on where you wanted to install it, I think.

Perhaps David would be so kind as to shed a bit more light on what can be
done to elminiate the effect on the transmitted audio?

If this clipper were installed in the high-impedance audio output to the 'phones
or an external speaker, would that still effect the transmitted audio?
