I've seen the sockets installed both ways -- whichever one Alexandre Dumas(s) Elecktrishun puts 'em.

At my current location, we use
mostly the British style, and the ground is always up.

Talking about standards, what is the standard
for installing the commom North American 120 volt 15 amp
grounded receptacle, aka NEMA 5-15?
Sometimes the ground pin is on top, other times
on the bottom?
