We here in the Grand and Glorious Peace and Freedom Loving People's
Democratic Kingdom-State of Hawaii traditionally build our homes elevated
from the ground which precludes the idea of basements. Even those lowly
beings who insist on building their homes on the ground have no basements of
which I'm aware. There are also no furnaces or fireplaces as a general rule
despite the fact that Winter can bring bitter cold temps in the low 60s with
highs not even reaching 80.

Also, comment was made about shoes. The missionaries tried (and try) to
teach the island residents about them but failed (and fail) to impress in a
number of cases. As a result, being barefoot isn't all that uncommon,
especially in one's home. Sadly many establishments have become haolified
and insist on people wearing at least slippahs on their feet. The way I see
it is that if we were intended to have shoes we would have been born fully
shod.
