Gorden, et al:
As we speak, I have a tuning capacitor assy from a BC-454-A, in hand.
It appears that both the gears are secured to the horizontal bar via
rear-mounted forked clips. Were the Type 12 VHF tuning capacitor be
already drilled for the gears, it would be a relatively simple (easy?)
procedure to remove and re-install them on the type 12. I've never had
the front connector assy removed to have a look. Perhaps you have? I
think it would be neat to put a dial on a Type 12 VHF, I've always
wanted to try it. Somewhere in my past, I've seen an ARC-5 VHF
receiver with such a dial. I do think, however, that not unlike a lot
of A.R.C equipment, there were some special tools and jigs, maybe, to
install these gears? The way that horizontal bar is secured, it looks
to me that the gears would be installed _after_ the bar was
soldered/welded to the capacitor frame as several of the welds are
hidden under the gears. What say all of you resident gurus???
