C-29 is similar to BC-450 used with the SCR-274N,
save it has no "ON/OFF" switch and no CW key.
Such functions were otherwise wired from elsewhere in
the aircraft electrical system, such as a "RADIO" master
circuit breaker.
C-30 was designed to operate the radio configuration
that incorporated the AN/ARC-5 VHF pair within
the existing and most common 2 TX - 3 RX deployment.
The ARC-5 VHF was an evolution of the excellent
but "passed-on" Signal Corps SCR-27N VHF set.

That said, I have never seen a documented deployment
of C-29 and only a few of C-30. The ARC-5 sets
were normally deployed with those functions on
console panels next to the pilot's seat and wired
into a junction box. The pilot typically had a small
box like the J-16 or J-22 into which he plugged his
headset and microphone. My AN/ARC-5 set does this.
It has no C-29 or C-30.
SCR-274N and ATA/ARA versions did use the
BC-450-type control box.
C-30 is common on the market but C-29 is quite scarce
and expensive if you can find one. I have been shopping
Ebay since they began and I can count the C-29s
I've seen offered on one hand.

What version of the set did you have in mind?
There are many "valid" configurations.
Do you want to use it primarily for CW or Voice?
