Unless you have extensive metal-working tools and skills
(I don't), forget "re-crimping."  Without the right tools and
the right skills, you'll never get it to fit snug.
You will be unhappy.

How to be happy:
Wait until no one is looking.
Put the connector in the hole.
Align the plug exactly, preferably in an original rack.
Engage the "keepers" on the front of the rack that go
on the "pointy things" at the bottom  of the transmitter face
to help get the connector juuuust right.

     Epoxy it in place from the inside.

                  Tell no one.
