In fact, I did so just a few weeks ago with a
"cosmetically challenge" but otherwise stock
and unmodified BC-459.
Just haven't had time to write it up.
I re-tuned the MO (only took a few degrees) and
re-resonated the PA padder.
Put it in the SCR-274N rack and it works well,
stable with a decent tone.
Neither ATA, SCR-274 nor ARC-5 are really
suited for CW work in the "full-up, all accessories"
sets I like to build. They were meant to be the
Pilot's "voice" and they work best that way.
IMHO, a "30 Meter" BC-459 is better used in the "stand alone,"
minimally-tinkered "Boatanchor Bob" configuration
which will do 20-25 WPM without trouble.
