Hello Jim,
Welcome to the Command / ARC-5 community - a great bunch of folks.
Do you need 7-way valve sockets for the 1625s? I have black phenolic ones
requiring 2 mounting screws, and ceramic requiring 4 screws. There may be a
problem using these after-OEM sockets - the 1625s may stick up too high
unless you use spacers or leave the valve cover off.
Unless you plan to use your transmitter at high altitude or in high humidity
environments, the phenolic will be as good as the ceramic, though less
fragile and cheaper.

I didn't try uncrimping it because I thought that it would make a bad
situation worse. I suppose it's worth a try on the octal socket side since
the damage is already done. I think it might be a good idea to put cuts at
120 degrees around the crimp to facilitate bending it back and reduce the
possibility of damaging a good socket when removing it.
However, a new ceramic socket would be a much simpler fix if I could find
one. The other "carcases" are not totally useless, but have "Swiss cheese"
case parts.
