Many people stumble over the middle letter, mainly for reasons that I won't
spell out. The TMC equipment model is FFR, for Fixed Frequency Receiver
(yes, it's tunable). Coincidentally, The US military nomenclature of the
complete system (radio mainframe and certain plug-ins and manual and etc.) is
AN/FRR-49(V). The Canadian military nomenclature is AN/FRR-502 or
AN/FRR-502A. The receiver mainframe in both cases is R-5007/FRR-502 or
R-5007A/FRR-502A. Which indicates that the Canadians bought some before the US. The
plug-in tuning units all have two nomenclatures, too (TMC and military). The US
tech manual is NAVSHIPS 92796(*) which became NAVSHIPS 0967-114-2010. I
don't seem to have recorded the TMC instruction book number.
