[ARC5] MC-215 coupling nuts, but not really

I found some pieces on eBay, listed as
"New 5/8 Inches Screw Down Cap, Magneto?"
Looking at the picture, they looked like
coupling nuts for MC-215 tuning shafts. So
on a chance, I bought a handful.
And, externally, they are the same size,
the knurling is a bit finer than the
stock nuts, the hole in the nut fits
the ferrule perfectly, but........
internally, they are threaded for
a 9/16 diameter, not the 5/8 that is
normal for the ARC-5 family. I am not
sure of the thread pitch, if its not
27, it is close.
I tried laying in some thin strips of
aluminum tape in the nut to build
down the I.D. so it would grab the
fittings, and so far it appears successful,
it took 4 layers of tape to do, but
I don't know how good of a fix that will
be over the long term.
Just thought I'd pass this on.
BTW, I have no connection to the seller, only
as a satisfied customer.
