I did a faded tag for a BC-221 using a couple coats w/a wide tipped black felt pen. When the last coat was dry, I buffed the black off the letters by placing the label face down on newsprint laid on the kitchen counter and stretched tight w/tape. Scrubbed the black off w/ a swirling motion. Some of the "wide open spaces" got buffed slightly, and I touched that up w/ a Sharpie. I was tempted to finish it w/ clear Krylon, but left it as-is.
