Not to preempt Taigh, but it looks like the Bendix version of the Signal 
Corps MC-204, John.  Painted light wrinkle gray and labeled MR-15* in 
their quaint nomenclature system.  An MC-204 is shown about a third of 
the way down at

used a plastic knobbed crank.

I think the MR-15* was normally used with the MN-26 and RA-10 in some 
installations that employed the MN-22* or MN-40* compass indicators.
