Yes. An audio filter makes a HUGE difference for me. I use any of a number 
of old Autek QWF-1s I have here. Those are still available from MFJ and 
from another source I can't remember right now.

Indeed it is. VERY useful.

Yes. I use Spectran also, and it is really fun to watch the signals in it. It is 
really easy to use too.
