[ARC5] BC-611 Air to Ground

For what it may be worth, in the late 50's, the Civil Air Patrol 
received several hundreds of virtually new BC-611Fs that were all set up 
for a frequency of  5500 kHz.  That frequency, I was told by our AF 
laiason officer (also a Command Pilot), that the frequency had been a 
common-use SAR HF frequency in years past.  They were just a bit too too 
high to tune and use them directly on our (then) regular frequency of 
4585 kHz.    However, the CAP used them for a number of years, as-is, 
until some air carriers complained of interference.  They were disposed 
of as DOD surplus and I know not where they ended up.
