I have a copy of the PBY-5A pilot's manual, 1 Aug 1945 edition. It says that the airplane originally had GO-9, RU-19 for long range comm, ATB and ARB for intersquadron comm, DW-1, ZA blind landing set, ZB-3 equipment, and an LM-10 as well was provisions for ABA, ABK, ABD, ASV and ASB radar equipment.
At the time of the manual the equipment was being updated by removal of the ZA, ZB-3, ABK, ABD, ASV, and ASB. APS-3 radar and APX-2 IFF was being installed.
So as Mike says, it does not look like they had ARC-5 or the earlier versions.
If anyone wants a copy of the manual it is 11.5MB in PDF format and thus should be e-mailable.
