Hi Ken,

On *one* BC-453 I used a piece of soft plastic tubing that was a press
fit over the spline. *Soft* plastic. It has been working for six years
and no reinforcements, clamps, braces, shims, or U.S. cavalry needed. I
am going to use the brass just as you have described for my other
receivers so I can use larger knobs.

I'm also working on a vernier scale for the dials on these. No
modifications to the radio needed. Our misuse and abuse of "vernier" to
mean a speed reduction drive must be pointed out here. I mean a real,
true *vernier* scale that will rest on the front panel, aligned behind
and used with the original dial. More about that later.
