The top 200 KHz of 75 meters is quite useful on AM with these sets.  They
sound good and have some power as field sets go.  I have also used it on CW
up there on the Mil nets on occasion.
Nowadays you could also use it in 60 meters CW if you can tune the VFO
accurately to the center of one of the 5 channels we currently have.  I'd
use a counter there...
Seems the raft expedition used it successfully but only when they were "in
range" of the Halifax radio club IIRIC.  I wonder if they tried a balloon
or kite antenna ala the Gibson Girl.  15 watts of CW on 75 meters to a
decent antenna should go a long way, particularly at night...
