Hi Dennis - At first glance it looked like a WS-19 type strap-on key but I
don't think so. Corners too square-ish looking. Apparently once they got
out of range of the coast on 80 meters they did not have any further
contacts all the way across...
Also, regarding Kon Tiki, the receiver they used was an NC-173, not a
Hallicrafters. Also looks like they had several transmitters on board and
probably not a BC-1306. there are several conflicting references to the
transmitter, including a British SOE set, German "Mark V", a custom set
etc... David produced a QSL card stating the TX was 7 watts on 20
meters....Rules out a stock 1306 for sure...
More mysteries...
