[ARC5] AE off topic, my read on it

From the pictures I've seen in the various books written, AE's radios were mounted on the right side of the airplane and behind her. If she had frequency control there must have been a "coffee grinder" up front in the cockpit. I've seen nothing in the published photos unless I've missed something. Also, Noonan was stuck in the back of the plane. Gas tanks separated the pilot and navigator. They communicated by slips of paper clipped to a "cloths line" pulley , fore to aft. I don't think he had easy access to the radio equipment.
There has been hype at the time prior to AE's attempt regarding the "new" Bendix loop antenna for DFing. I believe this to be an early DU type instrument and the loop was fixed to the airframe. AE would have to steer the airplane in order to "fix". There is also some contention as to the frequency bands this "new" Bendix loop covered. Some say HF (and LF). HF DF would be impossible as multihop signale may come in stronger than local signals. If the loop was Bendix, then I propose the receiver was also Bendix.
As to AE's demise, I have a strong feeling that FDR orchestrated her disappearance in the name of national security. He knew and al the US Navy knew of the impending attack on the US by IJN on Pearl Harbor and the resultant chaos and resurrection of the USN to victory.
