Most of my collection is de-modified gear, one
example is a BC-696 that the only change was to the
1625 grid circuits for the double side band mod.

What I find fun, is to cannibalize the hacked up sets
to make other sets whole again, the Walter Mitty fantasy
is that I'm a radio tech at a forward base, at the end
of a shaky supply line, trying to keep his outfit's
radios running from parts scavenged from battle damaged sets.

I have two utterly stock examples, one is an R-25/ARC-5 that
looks like it went through depot overhaul, never to be issued
again, and a BC-454-B that also has never been touched.
Although I do fall into the "gotta make it play" camp, these
two radios are not going to be powered up, they will remain
untouched. There are plenty of other units that can be powered up.

Then there is the R-23/ARC-5 that is also unmodified, but it
has flaking paint, full of dents and scratches, was obviously
a door stop for too long in its life.
