Errr ... wasn't the Navy testing the Rx that eventually became the RU before
the AAC got the SCR-183?

One cool thing about the GF set (which became GF/RU
only after one of the Navy's many mind-changes about
radio system names):
You know how the Army swiped SCR-274N from the
Navy?  Well the Navy swiped GF from the Army.
Really.  I'll have to dig all the research up again
and post about it.  The SCR-183 set goes back to 1932.
