Mike -

I now have RAT-1 #14, but, it has the original control box #94. It also has
the original dynamotor, #48, and, an original dual rack #94. Also have shock
mount. These were purchased from a fellow in the UK on eBay. 73 - Mike

Subject: [ARC5] Surviving RAT and RAT-1 receivers - data call

A note from someone who recently acquired a pair of the RAT receivers
reminds me that I haven't issued a recent data call for surviving serial
numbers of these sets. If you have one of the RAT or RAT-1 receivers, I'll
add the serial numbers to the list that I collected below back in 2002. At
least one of the owners below is now an SK, but I seem to recall they were
sold on ebay to another collector.

It's about time for another obscure and unreasonably obsessive data call on
the RAT and RAT-1 receivers. If anyone knows of the whereabouts of any of
these sets, I'll add them to the list. Note that the RAT and RAV are the
only sets whose local control box has a small serial number tag below the
sensitivity knob, so keep an eye out for any of these unattached to
receivers in your travels. Here's what I've collected so far, in no
particular order:

********************************************************

Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum (pending data query):

RAT 13.5-20 receiver, serial no. ?, original control box serial no. ?

RAT 20-27 receiver, serial no. ?, original control box serial no. ?

Owner #1

RAT-1 13.5-20 receiver, serial number 14, non-original control box.

Owner #2

RAT 13.5-20 serial number 43 with original 14 volt dynamotor, non-original
control box

RAT-1 13.5-20 receiver, serial no. 44, original control box serial no. 44
(This should theoretically be control box serial no. 87, given the peculiar
2n-1 and 2n nomenclature counting scheme ARC used for these local control
boxes.
That is to say that both serial no. 1 receivers would have serial no. 1 and
serial no.2 control boxes, etc.)

RAT-1 20-27 receiver, serial no. 44, non-original control box

Owner #3

RAT 13.5-20 receiver, serial no. 3, non-original control box

RAT 20-27 receiver, serial no. 5, non-original control box

RAT-1 13.5-20 receiver, serial no. ?, original control box serial no. ?
(Pending recovery from storage)

RAT-1 20-27 receiver, serial no. ?, non-original control box (Pending
recovery from storage)

Owner #4

RAT 13.5-20 receiver, serial no. 15, original control box serial no. 50

Owner #5

RAT 20-27 receiver, serial no. 23, original control box

Owner #6

RAT 13.5-20 receiver, serial no. 41, original control box serial no. 31,
non-original dyno

RAT 20-27 receiver, serial no. 33, original control box serial no. 37,
non-original dyno

Rack and shock mount for above two receivers, serial number 41

Owner #7

RAT 13.5-20 receiver, serial no. 13, original control box serial no. ?

RAT 20-27 receiver, serial no. 29, original control box serial no. ?

Owner #8

RAT 13.5-20 receiver, serial no. 28, original control box serial no. 55,
original dyno

RAT 20-27 receiver, serial no. 28, original control box serial no. 56,
original dyno

Rack and shock mount for above two receivers, serial number 28

(This is the only set I know of which has the serial numbers all matching.)

Owner #9

RAT-1 13.5-20 receiver, serial no. 37, original control box serial no. ?

RAT-1 20-27 receiver, serial no. 37, original control box serial no. ?

Also, I found local control box serial number 5 referenced in an e-mail sent
to me.

******************************************************

That's it so far.
