Hi,
I have just completed the entire transaction for the one cent 160 meter
command receiver that was listed on the bay. As shown on the auction
site it is rough and dirty. The box took a big hit on a corner somewhere
in the postal system - probably outside in the driveway since I found a
small stone from a gravel driveway inside the box. The box was bashed in
pretty good. Some of the tape was torn so that package was partially
open. However, The seller packed the radio well enough that no more
damage was inflicted on it.
All the parts to make it play on the 160 meter band (1.5 to 3 mc) are
there. All theold caps and resistor are there. The VFO coils is not
there so I'll just have to wing it there. That and the audio output
transformer show clearly as blank holes in the pictures from the auction
listing. Obviously I did NOT apply power. The moving parts are dirty and
stiff but not seized. The chances are excellent this radio will be on
the air once again! I won it for a penny and the postage was just over
$16. I sent the guy a little more than that to make sure the postage and
packing materials were paid for. Now where did I put that bar of soap
and brush...
