Around 68 I went to Rome AFB a few times to be on hand for a demo of a jeep
mounted SSB KW transceiver plus a SSB HT using a direct conversion scheme.
They were built on contract by National to evaluate the concept for a new
round of gear. There were also Army personnel on site.
The tests were successful but I dont know if anyone received a production
contract.
