The B-29 Combat Crew Manual for the XXI Bomber Command I recently acquired makes no mention of SCR-274-N.
And by the way, while it does not mention a CRC-7 being on board it does says that a CRN-1 "single tube battery powered low frequency beacon" is on board, designed to be dropped by parachute out of the airplane. It transmits a non-directional CW signal in the range of 1400-1750 KC, which consists of a CW signal keyed at 180 times a minute and interrupted every 30 sec by a single code letter, which may be M, Q, X, K, O, or Y. It is designed to be picked up about 50 miles away and has been picked up 100 miles away. It transmits for 12 hours.
