The '669 and the power supply he also has do not include the
interconnect cable. The connectors for same are all but unobtanium. As
a restorer of not a few BC-669's, I can only relate that 4 out of 5 of
them will require an extensive re-cap, to include the large mica used in
the antenna tuning circuit. Once done over, though, these rigs do sound
very nice, indeed, and will load into almost anything. They are tough
on crystals, however, so beware of miniature crystals as the 6L6
oscillator can do them in. Also, if you happen on to the correct
cable, be sure its for the model you have. That is, the "D: model has
an additonal and re-configured conductor for the remote B+ switch.
Models up to the "C" model do not have this. The tell-tale is that an
original "D" cable will have a straight back shell. Earlier models have
a 90 deg, back shell. The model-correct schematic and parts list and
layout is also mandatory. Finally, many '669s don't have the snap-on or
thumb-screw on back panel as its bolted to the transit case and is all
too often left behind.
Been there - Done that.
