Yes, of course.

This thread and my question, however are not about the detectors in
general, but about the peculiarities of the BC-348's circuit in
particular. I'm interested on understanding the designers criteria and
trying to get a feeling of how these radios where operated in their
time.

I was pretty sure the BFO injection level on my radio was too much low
for normal use, let alone the noisy environment they where intended
to work on. I think these radios where operated at full or near full
volume much of the time, there is no reason for low injection-low RF
gain CW operation when it's possible to make a variable injection level
control or simply put much more signal in the FI.
