6/12GE5 - PD 17.5 watts CCS
7984 - PD 20 watts CCS
6/12GE5 - transconductance 7300
7984 - transconductance 13500
Screen volts in both cases is 200 VDC
Looks to me as though the 7984 would make the better oscillator, while it is a
toss-up between the GE5 and the 7984 for power output.
Both are rated at 750 VDC plate voltage under CCS operation, but, as I said,
the GE5 is also rated to 5KV for pulse.
Both are pretty sensitive tubes in that they don't need much driving power.
YMMV
Oh. I forgot to mention that when I bought the sleeve of 5 NIB 6GE5s, the
cost was $5.00, or a buck apiece.
I see 7984s on eBay for $4.50, and even less, used.
