A few items about my newly acquired BC-906-D.
I plan to scan the G&G info sheet that came with the set. If anyone wants me to e-mail them a copy let me know.
An interesting feature is that there is a button built into the front panel that is depressed when the front cover is swung closed. I assume this enables you to open the cover, turn the set on, adjust the frequency as required, and then close the cover and have it start working.
The set has two provisions for antennas. There is one connection on the front panel; I think this may be for testing antennas. There is also a telescoping antenna that is stored inside the from cover and can be inserted through a spring loaded cover on the top of the set. That was missing from my $2 example.
But then I had a thought. Back in the mid-70's I bought a surplus chromed telescoping antenna and used it strapped to the back of a Heathkit Twoer. It actually loaded pretty well, but there was no one to talk to.
And that antenna turns out to be the one for a BC-906-D. Fits perfectly. The world has awaited this fateful rendezvous for some 38 years!
