Dave, Rocking the tuning indicator as suggested didn't change anything.
Touching the signal generator to the top cap of the 12K8 produced quite a
bit of signal in the headphones. Going back to the antenna binding post
produced less than half of what I was hearing at the mixer. It appears the
problem might be in the RF amp. This is where I concentrate my efforts for
the moment.

If my last has no effect, touch your antenna lead to the top cap of the
12K8.  Do you have loud signals that vary with the RF control?

Grip the tuning indicator dial (not the crank- the dial itself)
with you fingers and rock it a little back-and-forth,
up-and-down.  Do the signals come back intemittantly?
If so, you have either a bad solder joint that connects to
the cap or some place on the cap assembly itself has
gone Hi-Z, which is becoming quite common.
Also- grip the tops of the IF cans and the tubes
and give them a little "rock."

Give that a quick try and let us know.
