All too common for nameplates to be removed.  I have a BC-224-F and it was just painted over - and the paint came off without hurting the markings on the nameplate.

I got a BC-348-J without a nameplate and made one myself.  I took a photo of my BC-348-Q nameplate and had a professional photographer friend alter it to say BC-348-J.  Then I printed it out with a photo printer on photo grade paper, glued it over a nameplate off a box for 1952 radar gear, spayed it with clear lacquer and used that.  Looks quite nice.  I have a lot of BC-348 nameplate photos if you want to try that.
