Thanks for everyone's input on this.
I have done the resistor-with-cap-bypass
between screen and plate when I was working
with the 1625s. Not only does the bypass keep the screen
at the same RF as the plate, but when removing the B+
from the screen to neutralize the PA, the cap is required,
else the "floating" screen will change the interelectrode capacitance
I'm trying to neutralize. I read of using the 7984s with direct
connection of the screen to the plate (running these tubes at
about 60% of maximum ratings) and have been trying that,
but I'm with ya'll on this- it's killing the screens.
Got to order some 5-watt resistors... more work to do
on this BC-375 project.
Want to hear what this 1928-design MOPA transmitter
can sound like on 7040 KC 40 meters
when you get the keying relay "right," use a reasonable B+
and tame the "drift" problem? Well... close to "tame."
Sorry for my poorly-adjusted Vibroplex.
It went from "yelping" like an old hound-dog treeing a coon
and wandering several KC away to something useable,
at least for Classic Exchange ;-):

Still more work to do.
