[ARC5] Very Scarce Piece BC-611 BC-721

Communication between the early gliders and their tugs was a telephone wire
wrapped around the tow-rope. These lines often shorted out while being
dragged along concrete runways during take-offs. Two-way radios eventually
replaced this system.

Viewed in context, the wireline or optical signalling makes a lot of
sense. Even a minute's warning would have given a big advantage to the
Germans. It doesn't take long to scramble MG crews.
The Allies certainly spent a lot of time and effort building jammers, etc,
to conceal the D-day armada. I've been told some of the big noise jammers
for German RADARs were used just the one time.
